Unique to Birmingham, the federally endangered Watercress Darter fish displays spectacular colors during mating season, and lives in five local streams. Proceeds from Darter Scramble support science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs in Birmingham City Schools. Darter Scramble is organized by the Alabama Environmental Council, Alabama's oldest conservation nonprofit with a focus on sustainability.
